Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former mentor Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial opportunities in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
